GUP "Wodokanal Sankt Peterburga" is in charge of the sewer network for the city of St. Petersburg. The main sewer, installed at the right side of Newa shore, is currently under construction. It functions as a stormwater storage tank with a capacity of above 100,000 m³. The pumping station URS 422 is installed to regulate the wastewater discharged to the main sewer. It also serves as a control system for the combined wastewater flow from both sewer pipes. This means heightening of wastewater from the tunnel level of approx. -84.0 to approx. -29.2 m discharge level, i.e. a difference of about 54.8 m. The pumping station includes a round underground structure made of ferro-concrete with an external diameter of 22 m and a depth of 89.9 m from the top ground surface. It also has a two-storey round structure above ground with an external diameter of 24 m.
